Tell me more about Apple Cider Vinegar (6 tips)
1. ACV - Weight loss & General health
Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) is something you will want to look into and implement in your home care regime, not just for weight loss, but if you want good health generally. What is health? Vitality, having a good strong immune system. Who doesn't want that?
According to JJ Smith, the #1 New York Times bestselling author, nutritionist and certified weight-loss expert, the ACV (in her Apple cider detox) is for liver cleansing. The JJ Smith Detox also adds cayenne pepper to make a very powerful drink. Not only is cayenne great for your blood and digestive system, cayenne (like lemon juice) makes the ACV more palatable!
She is onto something with ACV, according to our studies at SpeedyVite. ACV has actually been used as a traditional medicine for thousands of years. The internet is full of claims about Apple Cider Vinegar, but recent scientific studies have found some proven benefits.
2. Benefits of ACV
From SpeedyVite.com:
Apple cider vinegar (organic) has been used for over a thousand years for numerous ailments including fever, cough and common cold; as an antibiotic, a natural detox cleansing agent, an energizing drink, a preservative, a condiment, an antiseptic-disinfectant in cleansing wounds... The list is endless... Some of the many claims include helping the following: sore throat, sinus infection, high cholesterol levels, skin conditions and blemishes, toxins, allergies, low stamina, poor immune system, slow metabolism (weight issues), indigestion, constipation, joint pain and stiffness, bladder infection........
Whilst not all of these have been proven, we know the following: it does help weight loss (though not a stand alone solution)...
And ACV contains chromium which can alter insulin levels, by preventing at least some starch from being digested and raising your blood sugar (no substitute for insulin, and diabetics should talk to their doctors first).
Two studies in 2015 suggest that apple cider vinegar may offer anti-fungal properties against denture-related stomatitis.
Another plus: ACV is also widely believed to help with cholesterol.
3. Helps Cholesterol
While many people with high cholesterol use Statin drugs to help their cholesterol levels, ACV can also help. [According to webmd statins reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and even death from heart disease by about 25% to 35%.. Statins lower LDL cholesterol.. also help to stabilize plaques in the arteries. That makes heart attacks less likely... but can have some side effects such as: memory loss, mental confusion, high blood sugar, and type 2 diabetes]. Obviously you don't want to substitute ACV for a doctor's advice or Statin drugs, but ACV can help on the cholesterol front.
4. Which type to get?
ACV is available at your local health food store or super market. The organic one costs slightly more, Braggs is usually recommended (by Paul Bragg, father of the modern health food industry, see Braggs Vinegar uses here) - it typically costs around $8.99 /16oz /1L. Probably the cheapest raw unfiltered organic, though, is Giant's Nature's Choice for $3.99 /16oz /1L. It also comes with the "mother", (which is that nutritious natural stuff which settles at the bottom, meaning you have to shake it!)
5. Add the benefits of Cayenne/ pepper to your ACV
This is where JJ Smith really get's exciting: Combine ACV with the cayenne, and you definitely have something more than just for weight loss; With cayenne, you will literally feel it go to work in the blood system because it contains many other important properties...
While others this flu season will go out for Emergen C, Cold Eeze, or Tylenol Cold Max, (which are not bad for dealing with symptoms -ok I'll admit it, I'm a baby and am the first to break down & get these symptomatic "fixits" when it's too late and symptoms are severe- and we know the 2016 flu symptoms will be severe)- but why not be proactive? I don't mean just running to get ever stronger flu shots, but boost up with some potent natural defense technologies which are readily available at your local health store or grocery store?
Cayenne contains:- Vitamin C
- Vitamin B6
- Vitamin E
- Potassium
- Manganese
- Flavonoids – with antioxidant properties.
- It's detoxifying
- Helps migraines
- the digestive system
- and blood flow
Add the ACV and the cayenne together in a drink, and JJ Smith says they "improve digestive system, belly fat etc.." Well as you can see, they do a lot more than that!
While you're at it, if you want to get totally boosted up, harness the power of cayenne's cousin... the famous Habanero (one of the "Big 5" Natural Defense Technologies).
6. The Habanero effect
Another similar and very potent wonder is Habanero (also used in Apple Cider Vinegar based Super Tonic)
From SpeedyVite.com
Habanero Pepper (same Capsicum family of chili peppers including jalapenos, poblanos and bell peppers) is known for clearing mucus membranes, detoxifying, stimulating blood flow, stimulating every organ quickly and decreases the risk of certain diseases. Capsaicin inhibits the production of Substance P, a compound that is responsible for the swelling and pain associated with inflammation. Researchers have concluded that regularly eating chili peppers may decrease Type 2 diabetes risk. Capsaicin can inhibit the growth of prostate cancer cells, and may protect cells from becoming cancerous. In addition, habaneros contain significant amounts of Vitamin C and A, both of which act as antioxidants, compounds that may decrease the risk of cancer.
